Hi,
Well, TV isn't too good tonight in the USA (reruns). So I thought I'd go around and visit other sites. I just wanted to say "Hi" and to also let you know I voted for you.
You are invited when you have time --- and all who visit --- to come on over to my website "BROWNIELOCKS and THE 3 BEARS" for some good clean fun.
TGIF!
Sheila :) Do you allow Images? I'll try:

"We have a 3 year old female Pyrenees named Monet. She is the third Pyrenees we've owned. Like all Pyrenees, Monet is a real character! But despite her shenanigans, we love this breed unconditionally. Once you own a Pyrenees you'll soon discover there's no other dog that compares. Here's to "Monet" -- the gentlest of the gentle giants."

Currently in my 15th year of Pyr ownership. Waiting for my little girl puppy to grow old enough to show. There is never a day goes by that I don't look at my 3.5 year old male and miss his sire. Can't wait for cooler weather to get back out to the dog show circuit.

I have a Pyr named "Pongo" and he is eight years old. He is a very big "gentle giant" and weighs 144 pounds! I love him and am quite proud of him because he has made a video for little children and he is quite a celebrity aound our home town and county. I have had "Pongo" since he was 8 weeks old and he has a friend {rescued from the pound} named "Lucky". They are great pals. Pongo was raised with my 5 grandchildren and they all just love him!

We have a majestic Pyr, Napoleon Bonapart(Nappy) for short. A 8 year old bundle of energy and still going strong. At 140 pounds and all the natures of any dog. After reading the "connection"
I find myself wanting to write so much but don't know how much space is available. I would like to answer all the questions I read and make comments on every thing I read but find it impossible to do at this time. Books have been written on this dog and more books and more books. There is so much about this breed that it takes more than a couple books to describe them in all their glory. First of all, I want to mention that these dogs come from the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain hence their name. They are used mostly as guardians of flocks and herds. They have two coats of hair, one of inner fur and one of long coarse hair. They can withstand extreme temperatures in the cold of the mountains of any country. They do very well in warm temperatures as long as they can get some relief, either in swimming pools or creeks or some form of water and shade. In my wisdom of eight years of growing up with Nappy, I have found him to be one of the most loyal, devoted, and beautiful of all the dog breeds. Yes, I am a champion of the breed and always will be. Words can't describe the wonders of this dog and all that he is.

I recently adopted a Great Pyrenees from my local animal shelter. The previous owners gave her up because she got too big. I'm very impressed with her, but unfortunately, I know nothing about this breed. I enjoyed your site, and will continue my search for any info I can get.

Last night my husband and I took our 3 yr. old Pyr, Sadie for a walk. She was sniffing in some pine needles (she thinks she is a Bloodhound :-)and all of a sudden she started sneezing. She sneezed so hard we almost took her to the emergency hospital last night. Well, today I took her to see her vet. $95.00 later, Sadie has been freed from the two ants that she snorted!!!!!
My husband said from now on when someone sneezes we will say, "What have you got...ants up your nose?" Is that not the dorkiest story you have heard?

I had a wonderful female a few years ago. She was the apple of my eye. Unfortunetly, I had to put her down, but I have several photos of my little angel all over the house. It has taken me quite a few years to get over losing her, but I am thinking it is time to look into getting another one very soon! I am looking for a wonderful catalog that I had several years ago to purchase items such as coffee mugs, shirts, hats, etc. Can anyone help me out? The catalog had quite a wonderful selection of everything in it on great pyr's only. My email address is stirekk@delwebb.com if anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

Have two Pyrs, Kemosabe(M)age 7 and Kateri (F) age 6. We brought the dogs with us from Texas and have since lived with them in Rhode Island, Italy and now Germany. They are wonderful with our three kids and adapt very well to our moves. We have had two litters, one in Texas and one in Rhode Island but that was enough. Our favorite breed and an attention getter everywhere.

We just bought our first Great Pyrenees puppy. Her name is Clio (Greek for goddess of History). We have had her for two weeks now. She is 10 weeks old. She is the most adorable puppy I have ever had. She is so good. She follows me around without a leash. She gets upset if I get to far ahead of her. She is wonderful with my four year old granddaughter. She stays in her crate at night and never barks. I was wondering if anyone has come across a good book on basic training of the Pyrenees?

We have had Great Pyrenees since 1989, and we have shown, raised puppies, loved them and buried them. They are the very best companions and friends, not only do they do their job as flock and family guardian, but they are the best friends anyone could ever have. When your down and feeling sad, go out to them and I guarantee they will cry with you, hug you, and then make you laugh, at some antic they dream up to make you happy again. No mystic could ever read cards like these dogs do, with those gorgeous eyes that see into to the soul. Maxine Grover Letarte

I am the proud owner of the two most beautiful, sweetest, wonderful Pyrs in the world. Scout and Bailey are my best friends. Knowing I get to go home and play with them at the end of the day is the only thing that gets me through work. I will never even consider having another breed. No dog could compare to the mild-mannered, protective, regal Pyrenees. I love them.

We have been fortunate enough to have had four
Pyrs in our lifetime (one currently)-----------
"Huggy", "Sweetie Pie", "Daisy", and "Bogey"
(the current master of our household). A
greater, more beautiful (and stubborn) breed
does not exist. The phrase "To own a Pyr is to
want one always" is SO TRUE!!!! For sure, the
real secret to a Great Dog with this breed is a
GREAT BREEDER---------In our case "Ville Vieux
(Anne Rappaport, Barrington, Illinois)!

I have raised and ownened all kinds of dogs. Ten years ago I bought a pyr puppy "Ursa" a few months later a friend gave me his male "Moby" because he was getting to big. If you have a Pyr
"who your best friend is," is a question you will never have to answer to yourself or anyone else.
This site brings back the best memories of my life.

Camrose, Alberta [Canada]
Our first Pyr, Dover, died without warning in 1998. She was only 6 and I vowed that day never to get another one as it just broke my heart when we found her in the yard. Within days I had changed my mind and several months later "Kaslan's Kilkenny Ceili" (Ceili for short) joined our family. She is a darling girl although quite timid, unlike our first Pyr who was much more aggressive in her role as protector. Ceili has decided that I am her flock and watches over me constantly. She is not a barker but does like to join in the chorus when the coyotes who live near us start howling at night. She and our sweet beagle are great friends-quite a Mutt and Jeff combination! She is also very fond of our 2 cats. I can't imagine life without her!

We love our Great Pyrenees, Dallas. He is energetic and playful, but always gentle. He LOVES water. When it rains, he looks toward the sky and lunges at individual rain drops, attemping to eat them! He also loves to bark and is, therefore, a wonderful watch dog. I recommend the breed to anyone looking for a large, friendly dog.

I own two Great Pyrenees and we just LOVE them to death. They are really good with my kids, and any other children that come around. They just have to look at you with those eyes, and you've had it. One will be 1yr old on August 1st, and the other is only 9 months. They love each other. They are so fuuny when it rains. They stand out there and play in the rain and mud and have a great time. They never get in their dog house we made especially for them. They are like children just waiting to splash in that puddle. We love them

I had a Pyr for only 3 years, named Howie! (Named after the football player Howie Long, big and handsome!) He was a beautiful 120# baby! He had allergies SO bad that we could not get him well and we had to put him to sleep! It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life! But I have several other dogs and family members in heaven to keep him company until I get there! He's guarding my mansion on the streets of gold!!
Can't wait to see him again! Praise the Lord for such awesome animals He gives us to love and enjoy!

About one month ago, my son was playing outside and found what apeared to be a rotwieler puppy. The puppy was very active and playfull; however, his head was swollen to almost twice its normal size. We took the puppy to a vet. The vet said that the puppy was rot and great pryenees. We learned that his head was swollen because his collar was too tight. The vet told us that if we had found him a day later that it would be too late for him. We gave him medical attention, bathed, groomed, deflied, and kept him. He is a wonderful puppy that has as much energy as my three year old. And by the way, we named him Lucky! -Jennifer

We have an 18 month old female Pyr named Sasha
and a 15 month old Golden Retriever named
MacGyver. They play extremely well together. If
it weren't for MacGyver, Sasha would be a couch potato.
They are inseperable. Sasha is a great guard dog
and very lovable. She is also great with our
day care children from the 3 month olds on up.
We'd recommend a Great Pyrenees to anyone with
room to run and a cool climate as they dislike
the heat. Sasha is definately a BIG fan of
air conditioning and pools in the summer.

I have a 3 year old Great Pyrenees & I absolutely love him. He does however; think that he's human. He loves to lay on the couch and watch tv and when he can he sneaks on the bed. In the past we had complaints from our neighbor because he barked when he was tied outside. He is much better now, but we have to leave him in the house when we're not home. He has a great personality and I would definetely get another Pyr. I love this website!

Our Great Pyr, Moses, has just become the proud father of a litter of nine. All are doing well so far, but we are concerned about the heat in Texas--can anyone suggest to us where the mom and puppies should be staying? I'm sure the 106 temperatures of the afternoon rule out the back porch welping box, but is the air conditioned house too cool? Any suggestions? We want the family as comfortable and healthy as possible!

I have had my two pyr puppies for 5 weeks now, and
am about to start crate training. Any helpful
hints? I have brother & sister; Cloud Nine & Jet Storm
respectively. They are much more intelligent than
rated in the book "The Intelligence of Dogs" I am
completely delighted with them, and the provide hours
and hours of fun for my son and I. We're looking forward
to long years of companionship with our new family
members.

I am having a hard time deciding what breed of dog to get for my 3 yr. old Pyrenees to play with. This dog will be inside 90% of the time. I would like another Pyr but my husband says that would be too much hair. I love medium to large size dogs. I'd love a lab or golden but hear they are very hyper. My husband wants a Swissy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My daughter and I were are currently looking for a new pet. We found the Great Pyrenees by complete accident. We had heard of them but had never seen one. We were always faithful to chow-chows..We will be moving to Hawaii in September (Army) and would like to know if there are any breeders in the Honolulu area. We are truly in love with this beatiful animal. And to read all the other great stories has made us even more INTERESTED in the Great Pyrenees. Thank you for such a great web-site with lots of information. Princess Goodman

We have what we THINK is a GP/Chow mix....He looks just like the photo on your home page with the moving water, except he's a bit shorter, and has a blue tongue like a chow. He's a wonderful loving angel! We lost his best friend,Chinook, a 7 yr old Siberian Husky, to Blastomycosis/bacterial endocarditis a month ago, and have acquired TWO husky puppies! Lucky is so good about letting me know when THEY need to go outside! They're all inside dogs, so that's a big help! Are they usually more of a "one person dog"? If I'm out, he stays in his kennel in our BR, even if my husband's here? And he won't come out for the housekeeper or my daughters! Though when I'm at home, he loves us all equally!

I have someones Greater Pyrenees, he roamed on to our property 3 weeks ago and we already have too many to take care and Bear needs a very loving home. He is all gleaming white, runs like a horse, is friendly with cats and other dogs and is just plain loving. I love him, but my husband says find him a home. Thanks.
