I have a six year old male we call "Bear". He is a family dog. He is by "Teddy Bear IV" and his mother was "Frosty Morn". Anyone know these bloodlines? He is my first Pyr (I had an Old English Sheepdog before) and I have become a HUGE fan of the breed!

I own a male, seven month old, pyrenees. This is my first time owning a pyrenees. I do not know anything about studing the dog. He is a.k.c. registered. I need imformation on that subject. He obeys me when he is on the leash and likes to get his exercise. He has never shown any signs of aggresion. It does get hot here in the summer in South Carolina, so he stays in the air conditioned house with the family. We are building a kennel for him so he can have some place safe to go. In the house I will keep him in the wash room so that he has his own place. He likes to chew on the walls. Will he ever stop chewing on the walls? What can I do to stop that behavor? Other wise he is a good dog. Please wright me back. Thank-you Beverly

I had always wanted a great pyrenees since I was a kid. My parents and I would go to visit friends at a ranch in Texas and they bred pyrenees. But, our yard wasn't quite big enough for a dog of that size. Recently my parents aquired a house on lake houston thats over 2 acres. My mother had said that she wanted to get a couple of large outside dogs, and while on my way to Wal-Mart I ran across a guy I went to high school with selling pyrenees pups. I called my mom to come meet me there, and she bought the last two. There names are sampson "sam" and bovagard "bo".

HELP!!! I rescued a 3 year old Great Pyrenese from a shelter in December. He had been checked by a vet there, but they missed severe hip dyplasia in both hips. Malachi is a real trooper and doesn't complain very often, but he is in need of hip replacement surgery ASAP. I am looking for organizations, animal hospitals, and/or individuals that would help. Malachi quickly became everything to me. I just don't have the financial resources to do this on my own. If anyone knows where I might be able to receive help, please, let me know.

My husband and I are considering owning a great pyrenees. We are still researching on the great pyrenees breed and making sure we are the right fit for the breed. I am also a web developer. I would show you some of my websites, but they are on the companies intranet. I have a few comments to help you with the site. 1) Don't use Front Page has a html editor because it will add code to your web pages. This code could cause many problems for your pages. I recommend 1st Page which is free by downloading the exe file from www.downloads.com 2)Your web pages will not have display problems if you get rid of the frames. Frames cause more problems then they are helpful. I really like your colors.

Wonderful site...My Pyr passed on (9/9/01). I am ready for a new friend, and have made contact for a possible pup....These are great dogs. The big guys are just too special and so easy to love. My grandson and I went by my friend's house to check out our potential new dog and of course fell in love. Reddy has been with us 3 weeks now and is begining to feel very much at home. He is 6 yrs old, all white and weighs about 90 lbs. He needs about 20-30 more pounds according to his breeder. He hasn't eaten a whole lot since we have had him. I took him to the vet the 2nd week and he was diagnosed with a middle ear infection and is on antibiotics now. The vet said that it probably hurt to chew so hopefully when we get that cleared up he will fatten up. Right now he is the only skinny one in our family! I have a cat from h---,and a 5 lb one also. Reddy basically ignores them. The big bad cat flies into Reddy at times and he just lifts his head out of the way with a "can you believe this?" look. He is very gentle with my grandson and with the neighborhood children when we go on walks. What used to be my 30 minute walk now takes an hour or more! We are so glad we got him. I wasn't sure about an older dog but I can really recommend this breed.

Found a big white dog wandering down a county highway looking lost so I picked her up.....no.. I opened the car door and she jumped in. Brought her home to meet my dogs, three Weimaraners, a big Boarder Collie, a Carolina Dog and two of her two year old cross bred pups. They all got along fine Tosh, the big white dog, ignored the house cats. I found her owners about six hours later and reluctantly brought her home. In this part of the Missouri Ozarks these dogs are a working breed and we see them in the fields frequently. Al Festag

I can't say enough great things about the breed. My dog Thumper is a wonderful dog. I think it was really important to socialize him at an early age which we did through several dog training classes. "Willfill" is a term that definitely applies to this breed and it was important for me to learn to deal with this trait and to follow through with commands. He is an intelligent, mellow dog and I would get another one like him in a heartbeat. I'm even trying to get him to feel comfortable riding in my airplane (he does well, but still gets a little airsick on longer trecks).
